ABOUT US

“My passion for this work is inspired by the the beautiful, startling, mysterious ways life stories unfold. I believe that people and organizations are diminished when these stories are lost. It’s an honor to travel with storytellers as they journey through their pasts, giving the trip meaning for the present and messages for the future. And it’s my pleasure to “give back” some of the riches storytellers share with me by providing carefully crafted documentaries about what’s most important in their lives.”

Julie’s Non-profit Work

Julie volunteers with and contributes to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA). This is the leading organization in the world fighting ovarian cancer on all fronts including in the lab and on Capitol Hill, while supporting women and their families. Julie also makes presentations to medical and nursing students through OCRA’s STS (Survivors Teaching Students) program. STS brings survivors into medical schools to educate future healthcare providers by sharing stories of diagnosis, treatment and survivorship along with facts about the disease. Students interact with and learn from survivors helping educate more than 75,000 young doctors and nurses to date, internationally.
Apart from her work with the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA), Julie donates to and volunteers with Friends of the Urban Forest, planting trees with other San Franciscans in neighborhoods without enough trees.
In addition, she also donates to the Better World Campaign, UN women’s program. This work has an important and timely mandate: to accelerate progress on meeting the needs of women and girls worldwide.
