Why Create A Personal History?

Life Story Media productions capture the imagination of viewers by focusing on the human element. They help you to articulate a vision of your life or your life’s work. And they create a link to the past, while building bridges to the future.

Our business histories present a company’s vision and core values in terms of human experience. Never dry, our histories employ a unique, character-driven approach. We reveal what founders and others wanted at the start, how they got it, and what obstacles they overcame in the process. We move your story beyond its individual chapters to reveal the bigger picture. Only expert storytelling, combined with the perspective of time, can achieve this result.

The stories we tell are rarely found in standard business histories. But they are the foundation of a company’s distinctive culture. Recording your organization’s history with us transforms your story into a valuable asset that is accessible to you, your employees, your customers, your family, and your community.

Phases

We create your business or personal history in three phases: pre-production, production, and post-production.

In pre-production, we meet and develop a rapport, providing a foundation for in-depth interviewing and for good service throughout the project. We also provide custom “memory prompt” materials tailored specifically for each storyteller. This ensures that we are fully briefed and that you are ready for production to begin.
In production, high definition, broadcast quality equipment, operated by expert video crews record your interview and related visual images. You and Julie have a relaxed, engaging conversation about your past, your values, your insights, your perspectives and any other subjects important to you. We don’t try to cover every single moment of your history – just those that mean the most. Sometimes these are the smallest details of experience. Other times, bigger milestones are featured. Usually both help us weave the fabric of your life story as the camera rolls. No two interviews are exactly alike. But they all reveal facets of life far more interesting than simple names, dates and events.
In post-production, all elements are put together with visual material such as photographs, existing video and film, documents, your surroundings, and footage we may record of people close to you. We edit these together with music, sound effects and graphics, contributing to a rich, vivid portrait. At the close of post production, we deliver your finished program on a digital file for you and others to enjoy for years to come.
